Across the United States, even the best emergency medical service systems can take on average between four and ten minutes to reach someone in cardiac arrest. Action taken by bystanders during the first few minutes of a cardiac emergency is critical. Immediate CPR can double or triple a victim’s chance of survival, which is why it’s important to educate the public on hands-only CPR.
